Lois Evelyn Lawson was born May 26, 1924 in Mace, Idaho to Edna (Stevens) and Steward Lawson. As many families did in those days Evelyn’s family traveled to different places around the country so she spent her childhood in several states in the Midwest until finally coming to Oregon.
She married Keith Coburn in Stevenson Washington on May 30, 1942. They made their home in Rockwood. Evelyn was employed at the Oregon Shipyards for a short time where she did plate welding and then at Reynolds School District where she worked for many years, eventually retiring as Head Cook in 1986. She and Keith also owned and operated a bed and breakfast in Sandy for 20 years.
Even though she spent much of her life cooking it remained one of her favorite things to do. She also enjoyed gardening and especially loved spending time with her grandkids.
She was a member of Mt. View Christian Church, Sandy Business and Professional Women, Democrat District Group and the National Bed and Breakfast Association.
Survivors include her son, Charlie Coburn of Fremont CA; daughters, Julie Dunford of Gresham and Kathleen Beal of Redmond; brothers, Jerry and Bill Lawson; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Keith in 1986 and her son Steven in 2013.
