Former Brightwood resident Lorene Ernst, graduated to heaven on March 23, 2009. She was 86.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 4, at Living Word Fellowship Church, 12700 SE Orient Dr., Boring. Burial will be at Rose City Cemetery in Portland, Friday April 3, 2009 at 1:00 p.m.
Lorene was born on November 19, 1922 in Portland, Oregon. Her mother died when she was a baby so she was adopted and raised by her aunt and uncle, Fred W. and Helen (Schiewe) Alt. Rene was raised in Portland where she graduated in 1940 from Jefferson High School. After high school she attended business college for a while.
On April 5, 1943, she married Robert “Bob” Ernst in Florence, South Carolina. They lived in Portland and Klamath Falls until 1964 when they moved to Brightwood. She and her husband were co-pastors for House of the Lord Church in Brightwood. In 2004, they moved to Boring to make their home.
Rene was dedicated as a homemaker and to serving her church. She loved caring for her family.

Surviving is her husband, Bob Ernst of Boring; sons, Bill Ernst of Lyle, Washington, Greg Ernst of Eagle Creek and Richard Ernst of Chehalis, Washington; daughter, Sheila Stephens of Sherwood; 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and her brother Raymond Alt of Milwaukie.
