Longtime Sandy resident, Lorraine Pinkerton died on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Legacy Mt. Hood Medical Center. She was 79.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2012 in the chapel of Sandy Funeral Home. A private burial will follow at Firhill Memorial Cemetery in Sandy.
She was born, Lorraine Jean Foster on April 6, 1933 in Arapahoe, Nebraska to George and Bernice (Pruden) Foster. Lorraine was raised and received her schooling in Arapahoe and at the age of 18, she was united in marriage to Leonard Pinkerton. They moved to Lexington, Nebraska where they made their home and began their family where Lorraine was a “stay at home” mother, raising her two children Ronnie who was born in 1952 and Nancy in 1955. In 1963, they moved to Portland where they lived for a short time prior to moving to Sandy.
Lorraine was employed at The Big Apple Market and later at Mt. Hood Cleaners. In 1981, Lorraine and Leonard moved to Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Four years later, they returned to Sandy to be near their family and granddaughters. Lorraine returned to work at Mt. Hood Cleaners where she was employed until retiring in 1994 after 31 years of commitment.
On January 28, 2000, Leonard preceded Lorraine in death and she remained in Sandy until her passing. For the last three years she has resided at Avamere Assisted Living.
Lorraine loved doing various types of crafts, playing bingo, doing crossword and word search puzzles and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are her daughters, Nancy Pinkerton of Gresham and Kathy Pinkerton of Sandy; her brother, Donald Foster of Salem; 2 granddaughters and 3 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son Ronnie Pinkerton in 1994; her parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
