There will be a “Celebration of Life” family gathering on Sunday, September 23, 2009.
She was born May 3, 1916 Lucile Marion Reeder on Sauvie Island, Oregon to James Simon and Lucy Mabel (Lumsden) Reeder. She was one of 2 children and grew up on the island working on the family farm. In her late teens she moved to Portland and worked at various jobs in the city. Lucile married Charles R. Peterson in 1941 just before he left to serve in WWII. Their only child Robert was born in 1946 and Lucile stayed home to raise him. Later, when Robert was in his teenage years Lucile went back to work and found her niche in the field of photography. She was a gifted artist that hand colored black and white photos before colored film was available. She also did portrait and landscape work. She saw many changes in the industry over the years while working at several studios in the Portland area.
Lucile loved to be outdoors. She enjoyed camping, horses and traveling abroad.
