Longtime Sandy resident, Lucile “Toots” Schneider passed away peacefully at home from congestive heart failure on August 30th, 2016. She was 87. A Memorial Service will be held at the Sandy Baptist Church on Friday, September 9th, 2016 at 3pm.
She and husband Dean were familiar sights around town on their daily walks to the post office. They were able to enjoy their 66th wedding anniversary August 27th with a wonderful gathering of family and friends.
Her grandfather, Casper Junker was a prominent figure in Sandy’s early development and her parents, Frank and Kate Schmitz ran several businesses in town over the years.
Toots loved to tap dance and was part of a trio that performed locally. She also loved dancing and her Dixieland music, which she listened to up until the end.
She will be remembered as the best wife, mother, and cook, and for her wry sense of humor. Family was her life and after a brief stint as a telephone operator, she devoted her life to raising her family. She cooked holiday and Sunday dinners every week up until about 6 months ago for any family that wanted to come. And she was always there with a listening ear. She enjoyed gardening and her flowers.
She is survived by her husband Dean, children Julie Ryan(Mike),Debbie Flippen(Dave), and Phil Schneider (Holly), numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death just 3 months ago by daughter, Jan Sordello.
In lieu of flowers, donate to a charity or your choice.
