Former Sandy resident, Lynette Rodd died suddenly at her home in Welches on Thursday, September 30, 2010. She was 51.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 8, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Vancouver, Washington located at 13600 SE McGillivray Blvd.
She was born, Lynette Eldean Shrum on May 7, 1959 in Hillsboro. The family lived in Hillsboro and began her elementary education there. The family later moved to Aloha where she finished her schooling. Shortly after graduating from high school, she furthered her education at Mt. Hood Community College where she began her nursing studies and met her future husband.
Lynette was married to Fred Rodd in February of 1978 and they moved to Anchorage, Alaska where Fred was stationed in the Army. Lynette then pursued her education and attended Anchorage Alaska University. In 1982, she graduated with a Nursing Degree and began her career as a nurse. Besides fulfilling her career as a nurse, she raised her son and daughter. In the mid 1980’s, the family moved to Sandy. Lynette and Fred were later divorced. Lynette pursued her nursing career until 2000 when she was involved in an automobile accident and she was unable to work full time. Two years ago, Lynette moved to the mountain and made her home in Welches.
Lynette loved the outdoors. She was a very dedicated mother to her 2 children and committed her life to them. Lynette had a very outgoing personality, she had a passion for people and animals and a great love for life.
Surviving is her son Joey Rodd of Gresham; her daughter, Jenny Steelfox Rodd of Hernando, Florida; her mother and step father, Maxine and John Stark of Vancouver, Washington; her sisters, Linda Hagstrom of Canby, Leann Eaves of Oregon City, Lucinda Richens of Medford, Oregon and Loretta Gearhart of Las Vegas, Nevada; her grandmother, Bertha Oblack of Mist, Oregon and her beloved malamute dog Nanook.
