Mildred Jeannine Burt, a resident of Boring, died Saturday, April 11, at age 79.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, at the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 12300 S.E. 312th Ave.,
Boring.
Jeannine was born Aug. 28, 1929, in Grafton, N.D., to Charles Wayne and Mildred Wilma (Falter) Flint. Jeannine attended six different grade schools and five high schools as the family traveled to find work. She
attended the University of Wisconsin and Central College in Pella, Iowa, majoring in English.
The family eventually settled in the Silver Lake area of Washington and Jeannine and her sister, Betty Carol, moved to Portland. During this time,
Jeannine joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was called to serve as a stake missionary. She met Allen Wayne Burt in 1953 during the Green and Gold Ball dance in downtown Portland and they were
married on Feb. 23, 1954, in the LDS church in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Jeannine and Allen served as temple ordinance workers in Seattle and then in Portland when the temple was dedicated. They served together in the temple for more than 21 years, and Jeannine’s favorite calling was with the nursery. She also sold real estate.
Jeannine enjoyed painting with oil on canvas, and she used to give her paintings to each of her property buyers. She loved hymns and would sing as she did her housework. She loved dogs and always had at least one puppy, and she once said, “I know God loves us because he gave us dogs.”
Jeannine and Allen were able to travel to many places including Germany,Austria, Hawaii, the Caribbean and Mexico. She enjoyed her routine of going swimming twice a week with her longtime friend, Jackie Rice, and
going out afterward to Taco Bell, her favorite place for her favorite food.
Her stepsons, Caswell “Casey” Allen Burt Hart and Steven Lee Burt,preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband; sons, Jared Burt of Gambrills, Md., Timothy Burt of Boring and Randal Burt of Longview, Wash.; daughters, Dolores Wynkoop of Galesburg, Ill., and Dawn Rose of Taholah, Wash.; sisters,Betty Carol Brass of Aloha and Dottie Jo Flint of Longview; brother,
Dennis Wayne Flint of Goldendale, Wash.; 38 grandchildren; and 21
great-grandchildren.
