Former Welches resident, Madonna Dewane died on Monday, November 14, 2011 in Portland at the age of 93.
A funeral service and viewing will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Sandy Funeral Home. Private burial will follow at Cliffside Cemetery.
She was born, Madonna Louise Finnel on October 8, 1918 in Cooperstown, Wisconsin to James and Mary (Metz) Finnel. Madonna grew up in Cooperstown and was raised there. She and her family moved to San Fernando Valley, California where she finished High School and began her career in Real Estate.
At age 18, Madonna married Donald Dewane on May 8, 1937 at St. James Catholic Church in Cooperstown, Wisconsin. They made their home in Cooperstown for a short time and during the Depression they moved to Milwaukie, Wisconsin. They later returned to the San Fernando Valley where Madonna stayed home and raised their son Richard and worked as a Realtor part time. In 1973, the family moved to Arizona where she pursued her career in real estate. Her husband Donald died in 1986 and Madonna remained in Bull Head Arizona until early 2004 when she moved to Brightwood, Oregon to be near her son Richard.
Madonna enjoyed cooking, crocheting and doing needle work. She attended St. John Catholic Church in Welches.
Madonna is survived by her son Richard Dewane of Texas, Granddaughter Maria Moranti of Estacada and Great Grand Daughter Samantha Moranti of Sandy.
