Longtime Milwaukie resident, Margaret Craig passed away at her home in Milwaukie on Tuesday, October 2, 2014. She was 93.
A Funeral Service will be held at Mt. Scott Funeral Home in Portland located at 4205 SE 59th Avenue on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., with a reception will follow. Private burial will be held at Willamette National Cemetery.
She was born, Margaret Verline Neemann on May 13, 1921 in Reynolds, Nebraska to Richard and Josephine Neemann. She was raised and received her schooling in Nebraska and graduated from high school where she met her future husband.
On March 9, 1940, Margaret was united in marriage to Gaylen “Bud” Craig in Kansas. Prior to moving to Oregon, they lived in Nebraska and began their family. In the mid 1940’s, they moved to Oregon where they resided in Portland for a short time and then moved to Milwaukie. Besides caring for her family, Margaret was employed at Silver Dollar, Dales Catering and retired from Jack and Jills.
Surviving is her daughter, JoAnne Van Horn of Milwaukie; her son, Randy Craig of Milwaukie; her brothers Gene Janssen and Lloyd Janssen both of California; 8 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Gaylen, her son Larry Craig, her sister Foline Kassebaum and her brothers LeRoy Janssen and Elmer Neemann.
Margaret loved to be surrounded by her family and friends and was someone you could always count on. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo, going to The Sandy Mountain Days and was a past member of the Lutheran Church in Milwaukie.
The family suggests remembrances may be made to the Milwaukie Senior Center.
