Longtime Sandy resident, Maria Cruz Camas Solorio died at her home on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at the age of 68.
Viewing will be held Friday February 10th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. as well as just prior to the funeral service which will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Sandy Funeral Home. Private cremation will follow.
She was born, Maria Cruz Arquieta on May 3, 1943 to Juan and Socorro (Nogales) Arquieta in Autlan Jalisco, Mexico where she was raised. Maria married David Solorio in 1962 in California. They made their home near Los Angeles and began their family. In 1971, the family moved to Oregon and made their home in Sandy. Maria and David owned and operated Automaster in Portland, an automotive detailing business until 1986. With the passing of David, Maria married Donato Camas four years later in 1994. Maria and Donato lived in Sandy where they made their permanent home and Maria became a caregiver for the elderly until retiring in 2006.
Maria had a great love for her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them and cooking great meals. Maria was a gracious and giving woman who opened up her heart and home to anyone in need. Her grandchildren brought her much joy and she treasured the time which she spent with them. She liked the outdoors, spending time at the beach, camping and fishing. She loved antiques, shopping and dressing up and going out. Maria will be greatly missed and will be remembered as loving mother, grandmother, companion and sister.
Maria is survived by her companion Donato Camas of Sandy; her children, Gabino Solorio of Portland, Robert Solorio of Sandy, Nena Sweeney of Clackamas and Denise Lo of Sandy; her siblings, Severiano Arquieta, Margie Devy, Joann Housden, Jose’ Arquieta, Maria Elena Saldana, Rosa Quezada, Mariano Arquieta and Judith Gonzalez and 10 grandchildren, Gabino Jr, Michiah, Vanessa, Nicole, Christopher, Robert Jr., Rosalie, Rochelle, Alexis and Hayley.
