She was born, Mary Phyllis Christensen to Frank and Grace (Wolf) Christensen on October 11, 1914 in Gresham. As a young child, the family moved to Sandy where they made their permanent home and Phyllis received her schooling. In 1936, Phyllis was united in marriage to Leo Calhoon. They made their home in San Diego and Phyllis began her career in the banking industry. They later moved to Oregon and made their home Sandy on Music Camp Road and Phyllis pursued her career with Clackamas County Bank. In 1954, they returned to the San Diego until retiring. From 1968 until 1976, Phyllis cared for her mother until her passing. After Phyllis’s husband’s death in 1996, she returned to Oregon and resided in Gresham and later returned to Sandy. For the last eleven year, Phyllis has lived at Avamere At Sandy.
Phyllis enjoyed cooking. She was extremely dedicated to her family. Not only was her family of great importance, but all those around her. She was 86 years old when she moved to Avamere and daily she would go from room to room where she was welcomed and would “check-up” on and visit the residences. Phyllis was a devout Christian and a member of the Nazarene Church.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Mt. Hood Hospice.
Surviving are 5 nephews and 4 nieces. She is preceded in death by her husband; 3 brothers and 1 sister.
