Longtime Sandy resident Sue Quimby died September 1, 2012 at the age of 83.
A graveside service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery on Thursday September 13, 2012 at 11AM.
She was born, Mary Sue Harness on February 24, 1929 in Stella, Missouri to Floyd and Lola Mildred (Clark) Harness. Floyd died when Sue was an infant so Lola moved the family to Clinton, Arkansas where her mother could help her raise the children. Sue received her elementary education there and then in 1936 the family moved to California where she started high school in Porterville.
On September 4, 1945 she met William “Bill” Quimby and 3 weeks later, on September 24, 1945, they were married in Riverside, California. They resided in California until 1959 when they moved to Sandy and finished raising their family. That same year Sue began working at a nursing home and soon afterward she went to work at Gresham Hospital where she continued until she became ill in 1972.
Sue enjoyed traveling in their motor home and flower gardening. She was a member of the Sandy Church of Christ.
Survivors include her son, Bill Quimby of Gresham; daughters, Debbie Little of Zig Zag and Cindy Searls of Sandy, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Sue is preceded in death by her husband Bill in 1993.
