Born July 31, 1951 to Fred and Margurite Purvine of Molalla, Oregon
Long time resident of Sandy, Oregon Meri Lang passed away on August 3, 2017 from complications of cancer.
Meri attended Molalla schools and finished her senior year at Mt Angel College.
Meri attended Lewis and Clark College and finished her Bachelor of Art degree with a minor in education at Eastern Oregon College in LaGrande, Oregon.
Meri married Garrett (Gary) Roger Lang July 15, 1973 in Aurora, Oregon
They purchased the Sandy Country Florist business in 1975 The old shop was located in the present Sandy Library space. When the building was sold, Meri decided to move the shop to the present location of an old house that seemed to be made for a florist shop. Meri owned and operated Sandy Country Florist for 11 years before moving on to raise two children.
Brittany was born November 18, 1985 and Spencer was born June 2, 1988.
Meri Volunteered with the Kelso Grade School Kelso Community Club for several years and was awarded the Cleo Award for outstanding volunteer. Meri also volunteered for the Sandy High School Drama Department assisting with sewing costumes for several plays and musicals.
After pushing both children off to college, Meri became bored and went back to work at Reardon’s Nursery as receptionist, secretary, bookkeeper, and chief coffee cup washer for several more years.
Meri was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013. Meri fought the cancer for four years before passing.
She is survived by her husband Garrett, daughter Brittany, son Spencer, sister Cathy of Molalla, and brother Mike of Baker City and innumerable friends.
A reception will be held at Sandy Baptist Church following the service.
