She was born, Mildred Rosine to Fredrick and Clara (Coerper) Rosine on May 8, 1915 in Moon, Wisconsin. She was raised in Moon where she received her elementary schooling in a one room school house and her high school education at Bethel Adventist Academy. After graduating, Millie furthered her education at Emanuel Missionary College in Berrien Springs, Michigan where she studied nursing. Millie later moved back to Moon, Wisconsin and in the fall of 1935, she attended Brady and Rogers Beauty School in Minneapolis, Minnesota and graduated. Millie then returned to Moon and that same year her father passed away. Millie then helped her mother attend to the family business.
On June 19, 1939, Millie was united in marriage to Howard Tucker in Broadview, Illinois. They made their home in Decatur, Illinois for a short time prior to moving to Georgia where they helped Howard’s parents for a time start an Adventist School. They later returned to Decatur and began their family in May of 1941. Five years later Millie and her family moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin due to Howard’s employment. The family lived in Springfield, Illinois for a short time prior to moving to Hinsdale, Illinois where they built their home and finished raising their family. Besides fulfilling her duties as a wife and mother, Millie worked as a secretary at the Hinsdale Hospital.
On June 10, 1963 Millie and Howard moved to Portland and Millie worked as a secretary for a doctor’s office and later at Portland Adventist Medical Center until she retired. It was in September of 1964 that Millie and Howard moved to Sandy where they made their permanent home.
Millie was a member of the Sandy Adventist Church for over 40 years. She loved helping others, baking pies and making baby quilts.
She is survived by her husband Howard; her daughter, Marilyn Hamstra of Gresham; her son, Terry Tucker of Vancouver, Washington; 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Sandy Adventist Church.
