Mitchell Scott Barr, 24, of Milwaukie, Oregon, passed unexpectedly on December 30th, 2023, after a fatal car crash. We are deeply devastated and saddened by this loss.
Mitchell was born on April 16th, 1999, in Oregon City, Oregon, at 8 lbs, 6 oz, to loving parents Scott and Alisha Barr, with beautiful blonde hair and blue eyes. His birth would be the most incredible and life-changing experience in his young parents’ lives. Mitchell immediately filled the lives of those around him with joy and adventure, from building box houses with his aunt Candance to clay elephants with his aunt Suzanne.
Mitchell was fearless, never without a sense of adventure. It started with his love for Tarzan, which had him climbing on everything, including the fish tank that flooded their small apartment. Mitchell's only concern was the fish. Mitchell’s love of Tarzan graduated to Batman as an adult, where he would even wash dishes in a Batman cape and answer his phone with a Batman voice.
Mitchell graduated from South Jetty High School on March 6th, 2017. He also completed his Firefighter training in La Grande, Oregon. Mitchell married Erica Holcomb on February 23rd, 2020. During their time together Mitchell was happy and healthy with his family of Erica and her daughter Olli, and they created wonderful memories together.
Mitchell always helped and encouraged others and felt at peace with the lost, rather than regular people. Helping others work towards their recovery, even leading groups in the Albany area. He would show up at people's work to offer words of encouragement and send messages letting them know they matter and that someone has not forgotten them. He was a brother to anyone who needed one.
Mitchell was loving and protective of his siblings, Grace and Max. He would always come if Grace needed him, no matter the time of day or craziness. He would come by and take Max to the woods to play ninja with swords and fruit. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for his siblings.
Mitchell was preceded in death by his mother, Alisha Dawn Barr. He is survived by his father, Scott Douglas Barr of Wilsonville. His sisters, Grace Barr of Bend, and Maxwell Barr of Wilsonville.
Anyone who knew Mitchell knew that he was loyal, loving, funny, and adventurous. He has an immense passion for snakes, which brought him huge pride. Family and friends will miss him more than words can say.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on January 19th, 2024, at Sandy Funeral Home. After the service food and refreshments will be held at the Sandy Historical Society across the street after the service.
