In Loving Memory Of

Monte Wayne Muller

March 2nd, 1954 - August 29th, 2019

Obituary

Gresham resident Monte Muller, 65 quietly passed away at his home in the early morning hours on Aug 29th 2019

Monte was born in Council, Idaho on March 2nd 1954 to Ross D.& Fay L. Muller. He spent his young years in Idaho & moved to Gresham OR in 1965. He graduated from Gresham High school in 1972. Monte always had a love of cars & quickly developed his mechanical skills & was soon working on family & friends’ cars as needed. He went to work for Leathers oil Co. at their Gresham service station. He then moved to Longview, WA. He married Joi Ann Brenner in 1977.

He began working for Weyerhaeuser Corp in Longview & worked there for a few years until he decided he wanted to join the construction industry. He went to work for Larry Dent Construction Co. out of the Longview-Castle Rock area for nearly 20 yrs. In that job he traveled all over Oregon & Washington to job sites doing all aspects of construction-laying pipe-driving dump trucks or whatever was needed. He later returned to the Gresham, Boring area where he worked for Rain Country until he retired.

Monte had a wide range of interests. He liked western movies-especially anything with John Wayne. He loved to go to the mountains or woods & practice sport shooting. He liked to deer hunt. He loved the drag races & car shows & Mopar cars. He was interested in panning for gold-his Grandfather once owned a gold mine in the Idaho wilderness Monte loved baseball- especially the Seattle Mariners & faithfully watched every game on TV. You knew not to call him when a game was on! He was a huge fan of the college football team of the Boise State Broncos. Monte was a very dedicated avid reader & was never without one or two books open by his side. We made many trips to his favorite book exchange store where they greeted him by name.

Monte lived most of his life in Oregon & Washington but a big part of his heart always remained in his Idaho roots.

Montes retirement years were spent-spending precious time with his family. He loved to have his grandsons spend weekends or off school time with him. He proudly e-mailed pix of all the grandkids to share with everyone. All four grandchildren were his greatest joy & pleasure. Monte was always available to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed him for anything. He often called family members offering to drive them to appointments or to go shopping or to go out to lunch or just to simply say "What can I do for you?"

Monte is survived by his son Davin Smith of Gresham, daughter Billea Smith Austin(Mike) of Longview, three Grandsons-Bently-Cyson &Daysun Austin of  Longview, WA, Granddaughter Isabel Of Vancouver WA, His Brothers Ron Muller (Mary) of Caldwell Idaho-Mike Bechtel(Karen) of Boring OR, Kelly Bechtel of Cove Or,& his Sister Carol Alexander of Boring OR -sister-in-law Shirley Muller of Battleground WA. Also, many many special nieces-nephews-Aunts-cousins & friends-too many to list individually.

Monte was proceeded in death by his Father & stepmother Ross & Betty Muller- his Mother & stepfather Fay & Vern Bechtel & his older Brother Bill Muller-his Brother-in-law Larry Alexander-his nephew Craig Thorsen & his close friend Mike Prazoe.

There will be an informal gathering for all family, friends, co-workers-who are able to come & have a potluck picnic & celebrate & Honor Montes life & legacy. We will share memories-stories & pictures. It will be held at the Boring Station Trailhead Park on Dee street in Boring on Sat. Sept 28th from 2pm to 5pm. We would truly love to see you all & welcome you. The Park has a website with directions. It is very easy to find-right in the center of town & only about a mile from Carols house. If you have questions-Please contact Carol Alexander 503-663-1313.

Remember--Life is short and many of our Loved ones are gone way too soon.

Let’s get together & reminisce.

Hope to see you
