Nellie Lane, a long time resident of Sandy, later residing at CherryWood Village, Portland, passed away Sunday, April 24. Born in Watertown, South Dakota April 9, 1922 to Ross and Amanda Clapp, the family later moved to Oregon and settled in Sandy. She graduated from Sandy High and later attended business school in Portland.
She married Charles Lane in February ,1942 and they lived in Sandy until 2005 when they moved to Portland. She spent the majority of her life as a homemaker. Later she was employed by the Sandy School district as a cook. She was noted especially for her baking skills. After retirement, she and Charles spent many wonderful times, fishing and traveling. She especially liked creating quilts for bazaars.
Charles preceded her in death in 2012. She is survived by their three daughters, Jean, Jane, and Janice and their spouses, 8 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Also her two sisters, Phyllis Rader-Shepard and Betty Alexander.
Services will be held Friday, April 29 at 11:00 am at the Sandy Community Church, 39290 Scenic Drive, Sandy. A memorial service will be held at CherryWood Village 1417 SE 107th Ave , Portland, on Saturday at 2:00pm.
