Sandy resident Nellie Sensabaugh, died at her home on April 30, 2011. She was 97.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 12, at the Sandy Community Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Sandy Ridge Cemetery.
She was born Nellie Mae Patterson in Middlebrook, Virginia, on the family farm, to David Edward and Lidia Regulia (Jarvis) Sensabaugh on February 13, 1914. She was raised in Virginia where she received her education.
On November 1, 1941 she was married to Roscoe James Sensabaugh in Rockridge County. They purchased the farm that she was born and raised on in Middlebrook, Virginia where they raised cattle and grain. She was active in the Presbyterian Church while devoting her time as a homemaker and raising their son.
After retiring in 1989, they moved to Sandy to be close to their son and his family. She attended the Community Presbyterian Church in Sandy and the Happy Scrappers Quilting Club. Nellie also enjoyed crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999 and her son, Tom in 2005.
Surviving are her 4 grandchildren, Charlita Farrester, Angela Bridges, Nicole Dreis and Thomas Sensabaugh, Jr; and great grandson, A.J. Forrester; daughter-in-law, Dolores Sensabaugh of Sandy; and nephews.
