Damascus resident Newton Evan Alderman, 68, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, February 13, 2012, after a courageous 10 year battle with leukemia.
Newt was born May 1, 1943 in Corvallis, and raised in Salem, Oregon. He was one of three children born to the late Harold and Bernice (Scott) Alderman. He will forever be remembered by his beloved wife of 48 years, Jacquelyn (Smith), loving children Greg & Christine, treasured grandchildren Kylee, Madeline, & Cody, and caring brothers Chuck & Terry, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him.
After serving in the Navy, he married Jacquelyn in 1963. They made their home in the Damascus/Gresham area. Newt worked for PGE as a Sheet Metal Journeyman for 30 years, retiring in 2004. He enjoyed scuba diving, snow skiing, golfing, and camping. He was a natural at all things mechanical and loved working in his shop and doing things around the house.
Newt touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
