On June 8, 1951, Nita was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Richard “Dick” Stamm at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Shortly after, Dick left for Korea. Nita then returned to her family in Montana where their first child was born. After Dick was honorably discharged, he joined his wife and children in La Crosse, Wisconsin where they farmed and Dick began his career in industrial refrigeration. Nita cared for her husband and family and also ran the farm. In 1960, the family moved to Bringham City, Utah for one year and then to Pocatello, Idaho for another year as Dick’s career advanced. In 1964, the family moved to Mt. Prospect, Illinois where Dick owned and operated his own industrial refrigeration business and Nita was the bookkeeper. She also worked for the Elk Grove Township and the School Board until retiring. Nita then formed her own engineering company and contracted out with The American Public Works Association, Chicago Chapter. Besides running her own business, Nita worked as Office Manager, Contractor Liaison, Election Clerk and for the Public Works Department.
In 1993, Nita and Dick moved to Oregon and made their permanent home in Sandy. Nita was employed at the Sandy Chamber Office, she volunteered her time at the Senior Center and was actively involved with the Sandy Kiwanis Club for many years and served on the board of the Sandy Historical Society.
Nita was passionate about her family and always put them first. She cared for her elderly mother for many years until she passed. Nita was extremely close to her twin sister, Nada. She loved gardening and taking family road trips.
