Longtime Sandy resident, Jean Morehead died on Sunday, April 29, 2012. She was 83.
Jean was born in Newbridge, Oregon to Mabel & Cully Trickel on June 6, 1928. She married the late John W. Morehead in 1945. They had 2 children, Sandy & Pete. They lived in many places throughout the West, Southwest and Midwest. In 1965, Jean and John settled in Sandy where they built their home. In 2002, Jean moved into a retirement condo in Gresham, after sometime living alone, she elected to live with Sandy, her daughter in Gresham.
Jean was passionate about rocks, doll collecting, Native American artifacts, painting and hand quilting. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, entrepreneur and a meat wrapper by trade. She also volunteered and served on the board of directors for the Sandy Action Center and was a member of numerous rock clubs and quilting clubs.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Sandy Webb of Gresham, 9 grandchildren, Debbie, Diana, Brenda, Kerri Jo, Sean, Traci, Kevin, Jackie & Teddy, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, sister Nona and brothers, Tiny, Wink & George. She is preceded in death by her husband John Wesley Morehead and son John Sidney “Pete” Morehead and brother John.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Mt Hood Hospice, Doernbecher Children’s Hospital or the charity of your choice.
Sandy Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Sandy Ridge Cemetery. A celebration of life will immediately follow at the VFW Hall, 38452 Proctor Blvd in Sandy.
