Sandy resident, Norman Castrapel died at Portland Adventist Medical Center on Tuesday, January 27, 2009. He was 72.
A memorial service will be held at Cascadia Retirement Village in Sandy on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. A private burial will be held at Cliffside Cemetery.
Norman Edward Castrapel was born on March 15, 1936 in Goodland Township, Minnesota to Nick and Alma (Graylor) Castrapel. As a young boy, the family moved to Grand Rapids, Minnesota where he was raised and received his schooling.
Prior to moving to Sandy five years ago, he lived in California where he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service.
Norman loved teasing and joking with people. He also enjoyed crocheting and donating items that he made to charity. He played the organ for the Church service that was held at Cascadia Retirement Village where he was living. Norman will be greatly missed by his friends at Cascadia and especially by his sister who loved and cared for him very much.
Surviving is his sister and brother in law, Jean and George Damm of Portland.
