Boring resident, Owen H. Peyton Jr. died at home from cancer on February 24, 2018. He was 67. Owen was born on September 9, 1950 at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA to Owen Henry Peyton Sr. and Arlene O’Brien. He was raised in Washington, Hawaii, California and Oregon. He graduated from West Covina High School in California in 1968. Owen lived in Gresham before moving to Boring in 1999.
Owen served in the United States Army, in the 173rd Airborne Brigade as well as in the Army National Guard. He worked for Union Carbide from 1974 until 1975, and as a machinist for Boeing from 1976 until he retired in 2006.
Owen met Eva Jean Erickson while working at Boeing and later married her on March 17, 2001 in Boring.
He enjoyed reading, barbequing sticky chicken for family and friends, raising Christmas trees, being President of his fishing club, and bowling with his league. Owen belonged to the Gresham Elks Lodge, where he was a chaplain for one year. He was also a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.
Owen is survived by his loving wife, Eva Erickson, daughter Christina Kilton (John) of Vancouver, WA, son Michael Peyton of Gresham, former wife Elaine Peyton of Gresham, former father in law Hank Fernandez of New Jersey, brothers in law Paul, Marlin, and John Erickson, sister in law Nancy Banning, special friends Annette Stockam and Thomas Walker, godson Jose Armenta (Pepe) and dog Azul.
