Paul A. Oren passed away peacefully Jan. 29th, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on Jan. 8th, 1943, in Beresford, S. Dakota to Palmer and Ann Oren, he was the second of three children. Paul began his career at the Dixie Bake Shop at age 16 where he developed a life-long passion for baking, retiring after 25 years with Albertsons in 2003.
Paul married the love of his life, Shirley Stykel, on August 8, 1973. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved watching his favorite Minnesota sports teams and old westerns. Those who lived nearby may remember Paul for long, early morning walks through town, which he enjoyed to stay active and connected to the community.
Paul is survived by his sister Carmen Reinholt, Sioux Falls, SD, brother Gary (Linda) Oren, San Diego, CA, children Jeanne (Bill) Patterson, Sioux Falls, SD, Myrna (Tim) Hower, Fountain Hills, AZ, Jim (Julie) Stykel, Sandy, OR, Don Stykel, Portland OR, Ron (Bernadette) Stykel, Camas, WA, David Stykel, Sandy, OR, 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents Palmer and Ann Oren, wife Shirley Oren and daughter Donna Manson.
Services for Paul will be held at 1pm on April 5th at Sandy Funeral Home with a reception at Sandy Senior Center to follow.
