In Loving Memory Of

Paul Joseph Vietti

May 24th, 1932 - December 17th, 2017

Obituary

Paul J. Vietti Jr., Portland, Oregon, journeyed home to the arms of his Savior on Sunday, December 17, 2017. He spent his last earthly days surrounded by his loving wife and family members, and cared for by the staff at Legacy Hopewell House Hospice.

Paul Joseph Vietti Jr. was born on May 24, 1932 in Reno, Nevada, the only child, and beloved son of Paul (Sr.) and Sue (Marchini) Vietti. Paul was truly their pride and joy. He was raised and educated in the Reno/Sparks area. As a natural and very gifted athlete he excelled at many sports; especially basketball, baseball, and football. He attended and graduated from Reno High School in 1950.

He met the love of his life, Jane (Kernan) in high school. The high school sweethearts were married in 1951, and spent the early years of their life together in the Reno/Sparks area. Together they welcomed five sons, and 2 daughters. Paul’s greatest commitment, love, and devotion went to the care of his wife, his children, and to his parents.

Paul and Jane eventually moved their growing family to Elko, Nevada, where he opened his own electrical contracting business. Always a man of his word, and with integrity, hard work and dedication, he proudly operated VIETTI ELECTRIC for over 30 years. He enjoyed his life, and raising his family in the town of Elko and was actively involved in the church, Elko civic community, and the local sports community.

Paul was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. Many memories were made over the years of fishing at the Ruby Marshes, as well as his many hunting trips with family and friends both near and far.

Paul and Jane retired to Arizona and truly enjoyed their years there. There they were blessed with wonderful friendships, and a loving, active community that they called home for many years. He had a great love for music, and played the washboard in several groups in their community. He loved knowledge, and pursuing new hobbies. A man of incredible talent, he took great pride in attention to detail, and believed in excellence. He was a Master Craftsman of refinishing antique furniture, jewelry, silversmithing, stained glass, and wood working. His eye for beauty in the use of various elements and colors to create his pieces was astounding. Each piece is exceptional, unique and beautiful, and is treasured by those he gifted them to. He took great joy in mentoring others, and helping them excel at their own talents, and gifts. He especially adored his work at The Villages wood shop, and the special friendships he made there.

Paul was a man of deep faith, and had a love for God, and for his Savior, Jesus Christ. He was gifted with true kindness and love for people. He was quick witted, and full of humor and loved to make others laugh. There was no mistaking the mischievous twinkle of his eye as he got ready to say something funny. That sparkle brought so many smiles, and joy, and laughter to those around him.

Paul is survived by his beloved wife Jane; sons, Mark (Kyle), Tony, Jon(LaDonna), and Jim(Gloria); and daughters Teri(David)Drom, and Amy(Bill)Lucas; 16 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Tom(Kara), and his grandson Anthony.

A Memorial Celebration of his life will be held in the Spring.

Memorial donations in Paul’s name may be made to Legacy Hopewell House Hospice (mail check to PO Box 4484 Portland, OR 97208)
