Phyllis was born on July 30th, 1930 in a farm house near Hamill, South Dakota. Her parents were Valdemar and Florence (Shalander) Wickstrom. She was the youngest of three children. A brother, Reuel (deceased), and a sister Evelynne Moses. Phyllis attended Hamill Grade School until the family moved to Winner, South Dakota in 1942.
She worked as a telephone operator while in school and an insurance office after graduation. In 1949, she married Claude Orlo Williams. They had four children, Ronald, Roger, Glenda (Naylor) and Diane (Brandon) all of Sandy. In 1955, they moved to Portland and in 1962 to Sandy. From 1964 until 1968 they owned a restaurant and bar, and Phyllis later worked as a grocery checker. In 1974, she and Claude were divorced. In 1976, she met and married Garry D. White, Garry had three children; Debra, Selena and, Joel.
In 1988, Garry retired and they moved to Bend. They enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, and spending time with their many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Phyllis and Garry spent several years living in Sandy in the summer and Yuma, Arizona in the winter.
Phyllis is survived by 4 children, 3 step children, 17 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Sandy Funeral Home. A private inurnment will be held at Cliffside Cemetery at a later date.
