Former longtime Sandy resident, Ralph McCleary died at his home in Gresham on Tuesday, March 26, 2013. He was 88.
A Graveside Service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Gresham on Monday, April 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Viewing will be held at Sandy Funeral Home prior to the service on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Ralph Duane McCleary was born on February 17, 1925 in Faribault, Minnesota to Ralph J. and Anna (Van Orsow) McCleary. He was raised and received his schooling in California and Oregon.
Ralph was united in marriage to Betty Kruckman on October 27, 1945 in Gresham. They lived in Canada for several years before making their home in Sandy. For the last two years Ralph and Betty have resided in Gresham.
Ralph served both in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged. He then began his lifelong career as an Electrical Lineman and was employed at Portland General Electric, Various Construction Companies and BC Hydro.
Ralph is survived by his wife Betty; his daughters, Kathleen Williams of Tigard, Sue Gertzen of Adams, Oregon and Laura Wenner of Gresham; his son, Kelly McCleary of Gresham; 2 brothers, Gus and John McCleary; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
