Randy Dempsey lost his brief battle with pancreatic cancer in the early morning hours of May 24, 2022. He was 68 years old. Randy worked in structural steel fabrication for over 40 years before retiring from Fought and Company of Tigard in 2016. He was skilled at and took pride in his work, and never missed an opportunity to point out his steel in places along the full length of the West Coast from Disneyland, to Portland International Airport, to Safeco Field. Randy was rich with love. Among other things, he loved bluegrass music (since before it was cool), British humor, accents, befriending Plaid Pantry employees, baking pecan pies, and passing on his accumulated knowledge of steel fabrication to the next generation of apprentices, from Ironworkers Local 516, as an instructor at the union hall. Above all else, Randy loved his family, and they will always love him. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Mari, in 2019. His absence is acutely felt by his daughter Rebecca and son-in-law Kyle; son Lucas; son Andrew and daughter-in-law Courtney; grandchildren Brodie, Bliss, and Leland; his sisters Monnie and Sue; and by all others who knew and loved him.
