In Loving Memory Of

Richard Ernest Lundeen

August 21st, 1921 - February 3rd, 2010

Obituary

Former Boring resident, Richard Ernest Lundeen passed from this life to eternity on Wednesday February 3, 2010. He was 88.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. at Sandy Baptist Church located at 34495 SE Jarl Road. A private burial was held at Willamette National Cemetery.

Richard was born on August 21, 1921 in Kelso, Oregon to Viktor and Mabel (Jonsrud) Lundeen. The family lived close to Deep Creek on Highway 211 for the past 98 years. Richard attended the 2 room Sandy Ridge Elementary, Banks Grade School and Sandy High School, graduating in 1939.

Before Richard was out of High School, he and his older brother Art bought a D2 Caterpillar, a plow and disc and turned dirt for the neighboring farmers for a few years. He went into the logging business until WW II called. Richard spent 4 years in the Navy and served aboard the USS Pecos, AO-65 as a Radioman. During those years, his ship was involved in much action. It was only by the grace of God that his ship made it through the war. Richard was honorably discharged in the spring of 1946.

On August 9, 1946, Richard was united in marriage to Esther Marie Zink. Their fathers, both carpenters, built them a house in Estacada where they made their home for the next 28 years where their 4 children grew up. Richard was a logger and equipment operator until retiring.

Richard and Esther were early members of Estacada First Baptist Church. He helped build the original building. Serving the Lord was always an important part of their life. In 1976, they moved to the farm on Highway 211 and began attending Sandy Baptist Church.

Mr. Lundeen had a great love for people and was very generous and caring to all. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, rock hounding and puttering around on his John Deer Crawler and cutting fire wood.

Survivors include his children, Annette Reisbick of Estacada, Tim Lundeen of Boring, Oscar Lundeen of Boring and Rebecca Esperson of Estacada. 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Esther and his brother Art.
