Boring resident Robert “Bob” Blake, 69 died Tuesday, April 21, at his home. No services were held.
Bob was born in Pittsfield, Mass., to George and Alma Blake and was the youngest of six children. The family finally settled in Norwalk, CA.
On April 29, 1957, Bob married Gladys Posey and they settled in Long Beach, CA. They were married for 48 years before his beloved wife Gladys preceded him in death in 2005.
As a teenager, Bob worked at his Father’s gas station. As an adult he worked as a pipe fitter and crane operator at various oil refineries in Wilmington, CA. He was also a Union Steward for the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers International Union Local I-128.
Bob retired early and he and Gladys moved to Oregon in 1984, and happily lived the country life. They both worked at the Alton Collins Retreat in boring for many years and enjoyed meeting all the guests that visited. Bob was known to family and friends as a great storyteller and practical joker. He always cooked the Thanksgiving turkey and made the best stuffing.
He loved to work on all types of vehicles, from trucks to lawnmowers. You could always find him tinkering outside on something. He also loved to play scratch off tickets and video lottery machines. In the past few years of his life he moved to live with his daughter and son-in-law. He took great pleasure playing with the family dog, Ice. They were best buddies and Bob always slipped Ice an extra something off his dinner plate, even though he wasn’t supposed to!
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and beloved friend to those who knew him. He is survived by his daughter Cindy Feagle and granddaughter Rhonda Feagle of Eagle Creek, OR.
