Robert "Bob" Benson of Sandy passed away peacefully on August 15th surrounded by family. He was 76.
Bob was born in Bend to Roy and Eunice Benson. Growing up in Portland, Bob graduated from Franklin High. A renowned Police Officer, Bob served for over 29 years in the Portland Police Bureau, retiring as a Detective. Bob also served 33 years in the Oregon Army National Guard, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Bob lived for over 40 years in the Alder Creek area and was very well-known in the Mt. Hood community.
Bob is survived by his wife Sharon, sons Kirk and Scott, step-children Kimberly Marroquin, Diana Snow and James Brinsfield, sisters Lynda Dickson, Janice Thompson and Margaret Benson-Dougan, plus grandchildren Matthew, Arika and Emilee. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and beloved brother Leon.
Services with full Police and Military Honors will be at Sandy Funeral Home on Thursday, August 22, 2013 with burial following at Willamette National Cemetery.
