Robert "Bob" Bennett died at his home on Sunday, October 23, 2016. He was 85.
Robert Dean Bennett was born on November 5, 1931 in Chariton, Iowa to Orville and Vada Bennett. Robert was raised in a large family of 10 children. As a young boy, the family moved to Oregon and made their home in Boring on a farm.
After graduating from high school, he furthered his education and attended Multnomah School of the Bible where he met his future wife Joyce.
Bob and Joyce were united in marriage on June 3 and were married for 50 years. They made their home in Estacada where they began their family. Along with Pastoring, Bob was employed at Fred Meyers for many years. While continuing in the Ministry, Bob worked at various grocery stores and drove school bus for the Estacada School District. In 2004, Joyce preceded him in death. Bob remained in Estacada until 200???? When he moved to Boring and made his permanent home.
Bob was always actively involved in Church and started the Gospel Sing at Living Word Fellowship. He spent time visiting and ministering to people in care facilities, hospitals and even prisons. He had a passion for serving others and helping those in need. He loved his job as a school bus driver and the kids cared for him as well as respected him. The children took joy in giving him gifts on special occasions. He will be remembered for his smile, his kindness and caring words and will be greatly missed.
Bob is survived by his daughters, Pam, Patty and Penny and his son, Randy; his sisters, Emma, Donna, Janet and Sue; brothers, Tom and Jim; 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He is proceeded in death by his wife Joyce, his son, Rick, 2 brothers, Johnny and Loren and his sister, Wanda.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the ALS Society of Oregon.
A private inurnment will be held at a later date at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Estacada.
