Robert Dean Walker, Bob to all, entered this world on June 3rd, 1930. Bob was a humble, quiet, beautiful soul. The middle child of three boys, Van, Bob, and Lane, he shared a special relationship with both of his brothers. Of his many careers, he mastered all that he put his heart and mind to. The adage “Jack of all trades, master of none” did not apply. Bob’s childhood, spent farming and ranching in Blackfoot ID, gave way to his service as a clerk in the Air Force. While in the Air Force, his family moved to Harlowton, Montana. He looked very “dashing” in his uniform, and caught the eye of a young lady at the soda fountain in Harlowton. Jean Blumer caught his eye as well, and courtship and love soon followed. After marrying Jean, he worked in markets and laundromats, on farms and ranches, and with the Forest Service and Postal Service; but most of all, Dad was a carpenter.
He was a builder of all things. Bob built fences, porches, additions, apartments, barns, churches, and homes; bringing shelter, safety, and warmth. He built bridges of respect, trust, and warmth; accepting and giving to everyone. He built a family with Jean, disproving the doctors who said they would never have children… six times. Bob was never one to shy away from work and he instilled those values in his children. He gave of himself endlessly, until there was nothing left to give and his body finally gave out. He slipped the bonds of this world on January 6th, 2024.
Bob is preceded in death by his son Mark, his loving wife, Jean, and survived by his children David, Bobbi, Carrie, Scott, and Kyle, and his extended family of grand and great-grandchildren. He is loved and treasured by all who knew him, and he is remembered with a deep sense of gratitude and affection by all whose lives he touched. His memory will forever be kept alive in our hearts and souls.
