Our hero took his final ride to heaven on _ March 29, 2019_in Happy Valley, OR. He was born on August 8, 1949 to S. Robert Crawford and Doris Crawford (Odem). He graduated from Davis High School in 1968 and joined the Navy where he was stationed at Midway Island in the Philippines as a data analysist. He spent the balance of the tour of duty at Moffit Field until his discharge.
He attended YVC for a time until he went to work for his parents at Precision Auto until his dad’s death. He and his family established Import Auto Parts Center in the same building and expanded it to Walnut Street Plaza. He retired in 2008 due to illness.
He married his wife Sharon on August 27, 1982 and they lived in Yakima until 2014 when they moved to Sandy, OR to be near their daughter Tami and son in law Kraig and their beautiful grandkids.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved cars, especially Corvettes. He loved the outdoors and spent many years camping, hunting and fishing in the Klickitat River area. In 2005 and in 2007 he went to Sturgis with a group and had a blast. He and Sharon took a trip in 2015 to Minnesota and Iowa, where they visited relatives and went to many of the places he had ridden his motorcycle while he was at Sturgis. Always looking for the elusive buffalo burger that he had eaten on those trips.
His great love was always for his family and, though he has been suffering for a long time with PSP Parkinsonism, he has finally gone to his well-deserved rest.
He is survived by his wife Sharon, daughter Tamara and her husband Kraig Schell and their children Krysta and Kooper. His brothers Wayne (Joann), Jack (Pauline), brother in law Virgil (Carrie)and many nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Linda.
We will miss his smile and his goofy laugh, and especially, all the love and caring that he gave us all the years he was with us. Rest well. We miss him but we send him with our love til we meet again.
In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite veterans’ organization in his name.
We are so grateful for the loving and compassionate care that Monterey Court Care Center in Happy Valley provided during his last months and Mount Hood Hospice.
