Obituary

Sandy resident, Rodney L. Evans passed away at his home with his family by his side on Wednesday, June 20. He was 77.

Rodney was born in Portland to Chester (Thorn) Evans and Sandra June Evans. He graduated from Maui High School in 1958. He joined the Coast Guard in 1958 and served as an electrician on an icebreaker.

He married Donna Berg and they had four children. In 1990, he married his current wife, Judy. They spent 28 happy years together.
Rod enjoyed being a police officer and a machinist for 40 years. His hobbies included inventing, reading, creating ornamental iron work, and maintaining a beautiful yard.

Survivors include his wife, Judy and his four children; Stephanie, Elizabeth, Steven, Jennifer and his three step children Brian, Eric, and Eran. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family suggests contributions be made to The Salvation Army or The Humane Society.

A special thank you to the Kaiser Hospice Team for all their loving care and support.

We his family want to express our love and gratitude to God for allowing us the blessing of being part of his legacy, and we will always treasure our memories.

I love you grandpa ❤️ your on my mind heavy tonight, just thinking about you and how awesome you were. I remember every year for me and my sisters birthdays you’d take us shopping and I’m forever grateful for that. You were a good person. Thanks for raising my dad to be just as great as you were. I love you~

Rod was one of the most genuinely kind people that I've had the pleasure of knowing. His good nature and inspiring ingenuity will be everlasting. May he rest in peace. Annah Smith
