Sandy resident, Rodney L. Evans passed away at his home with his family by his side on Wednesday, June 20. He was 77.
Rodney was born in Portland to Chester (Thorn) Evans and Sandra June Evans. He graduated from Maui High School in 1958. He joined the Coast Guard in 1958 and served as an electrician on an icebreaker.
He married Donna Berg and they had four children. In 1990, he married his current wife, Judy. They spent 28 happy years together.
Rod enjoyed being a police officer and a machinist for 40 years. His hobbies included inventing, reading, creating ornamental iron work, and maintaining a beautiful yard.
Survivors include his wife, Judy and his four children; Stephanie, Elizabeth, Steven, Jennifer and his three step children Brian, Eric, and Eran. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family suggests contributions be made to The Salvation Army or The Humane Society.
