Ronald was born to Idoma and Arthur Rockway in Joplin, Missouri. The family moved to Illinois when he was a teenager in 1947. He graduated from Tilden Technical High School in Chicago in 1949. He married Paula Angone on June 06, 1953 and they remained together for over 65 years until her passing on Christmas Eve 2018.
He worked as a Union Journeyman Plasterer in the years 1955-1970 doing Commercial plastering and drywall in and around Chicago. He moved his family to Brightwood in August, 1971 and worked as a Union Drywall Foreman in the Portland area. He worked as a foreman on Portland Adventist Hospital, Vancouver Mall, Clackamas Town Center, Portland Performing Arts Center, the Mormon Temple in Lake Oswego and many other landmark commercial sites in the Portland area. He was a member in good standing in Local #2154 until his retirement in June of 1993. After retirement he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was very proud of them all.
He is survived by his children Dan, Terri, Dennis (Angie Allen), and Cathy (George Taylor, Jr.). Also his grandchildren Adam Taylor (Sandra Houston), Sarah Taylor, Jack Rockway, and Danny Rockway (Wenping). He had 3 great grandchildren, Henry Bear Rockway, Forrest Hunter Rockway, and Ryder Jack Rockway. He is also survived by his brother Tom Rockway (Elinore) and many nieces and nephews.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather (Papa), and great-grandfather and he will be missed. There will be no services per his request.
