Boring resident Ron Collins died Friday holding the hands of his loving wife, Alice
McKay Collins, and Nidia Vanegas, his private caregiver.
A memorial service will be
held at St. Henry Catholic Church Wednesday Aug 19 at 11a.m. The rosary will be recited prior to the service at 10 a.m.
Ron was born in Los Angeles, CA, attended schools in Pasadena, and was a competitive sailor growing up in Newport Beach every summer. After serving 4 years in the Navy as a dental corpsman, he graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in Biological Sciences. His entire professional life as an entomologist was spent in agriculture first as a Sales Rep for Grower’s Supply, then with Velsicol Chemical Corp. He switched to Research & Development with the company and 10 years later started his own business, Collins Agricultural Consultants. After retiring he was very involved with the St. Vincent de Paul Society through the church. His lifelong interests included sailing, skiing, tennis, reading, and travel.
Family was always very important to Ron; he is survived by his wife Alice, 4 children, 4 stepchildren, 9 grandchildren, 10 stepgrandchildren, and 2 step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Lenore, and stepgranddaughter, Sarah.
