In Loving Memory Of

Ross Allen Snell

February 18th, 1953 - February 6th, 2024

Obituary

Ross Allen Snell passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on February 6, 2024. Ross fought a hard battle with cancer for the last 4 years.

Ross was born on February 18, 1953, in Portland Oregon to Lloyd and LaVerna Snell. They resided in the Portland area until 1959 when the family moved to a small farm in the Boring area. Ross continued to live on this property on and off until his death. Ross was raised in a loving and active family that included 7 siblings. Ross attended Cottrell Grade School with a graduating class of 13 students. He graduated from Sandy High School in 1971.

Ross joined the Teamsters Union at an early age and started a career in the trucking industry. His last job was Oak Harbor Freight before he retired in 2004.

He married Jill Keller in 1983. They had 2 sons and later divorced in 1990. In 2004 he married Julie Fleischman, who had graduated from high school with Ross.

Ross was an active whitewater rafter and spent many summers at the Deschutes River camping and rafting with friends and family.

He was an avid Seattle Seahawks and Portland Trailblazers fan. And he looked forward to college football every fall to support the Oregon Ducks and Oregon State Beavers. He played golf until his later years and watched golf tournaments most weekends.

He and his wife enjoyed RVing with family and friends and frequently took trips to Central Oregon and the coast. They enjoyed working in the yard together and had a large garden every summer.

Ross is survived by his wife Julie and two sons Jason and Jordan. Stepdaughters Amie Hankel and Emily Stetner. 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandchild.

Sisters Louise Maples of Olympia WA, Gayle Alexander of Gresham OR, Lois Allen of Welches, Joyce Edwards of Gresham OR and Brother Ron Snell of Vancouver. He was preceded in death by his brother Raymond in 2014.

Ross was friends to many and will be missed.  Donations can be made in honor of Ross to the Sandy Action Center or The Ant Farm.
