Sandy resident Roy Boppre died at his home in Sandy on Sunday, October 21st 2012. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 26th at 11:00 am at Sandy Funeral Home.
Roy George Boppre was born to John and Annie (Nye) Boppre on October 10th, 1916 in Rolette, North Dakota and raised nearby in Hansboro where he went to school. After high school Roy worked as a tree topper in California until he entered the United States Army in 1943. He served honorably in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre and the Battle of the Bulge earning the Bronze Star amongst other awards.
After Roy exited the Army he moved to Gresham where he married Christina Cain in 1948. Roy and two of his brother-in-laws owned BSA Logging in Wemme, Oregon before moving to Seaside in 1961 where Roy worked as a logger for the paper company, Crown-Zellerbach until he retired in 1979. Roy and Christina then moved and made their permanent home in Sandy.
He enjoyed reading, wine making, gardening, playing cards and especially spending time with his family. Roy was also a lifetime member of the Sandy Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4273.
Roy is survived by his wife, Christina of Sandy, his daughter Diane Boppre of Sandy, his sons LeRoy Boppre of Boring, John Boppre of Seaside and his grandson Travis Boppre of Sandy.
