Sandy resident, Russell J. Konell Sr. died at home on May 23, 2018 after a long battle with COPD. Russell was born on December 18, 1932 to Emanual and Gladys Konell. He was raised in Marinette, Wisconsin until 1947 when they moved to West Gresham. Russell graduated from Gresham High School.
In 1964, Russell moved his family to the Hoodland area until 2001, when they moved to Sandy. He worked as an over the road trucker, logged for Weyerhouser, owned his own businesses from a nursery, landscaping, excavation, Hoodland Sand and Gravel, garden center, and a restaurant. He retired from his son Steve’s company, Konell Construction and Demolition in Sandy. Russell enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, natural science, shooting, gun reloading, and trapshooting. He was a member of the Lions Club, N.W. Steelheaders, and the Sandy Gun Club.
Russell is survived by Russell Jr. of Damascus, Mitch of Sandy, Jeff of Sandy, and Ronda of Vancouver.
