Former Orient area resident, Sallie Rouw died on Tuesday, July 10, 2012. She was 83.
A Funeral Service will be held at Sandy Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park in Portland.
She was born, Sallie Jo Crawford to Grant and Mamie Crawford on June 7, 1929 in Bear Creek Springs, Arkansas. When Sallie was nine, the family moved to Oregon and made their home in Gresham where she was raised and received her schooling.
On April 14, 1946, Sallie was married to James “Jim” Rouw. They lived in Portland where they raised their three children. Once Sallie’s children were raised, she began working as a Pharmacy Assistant. Shortly after her husband retired, Sally took an early retirement so they were able to travel.
Sallie loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, flowers and spending time outdoors. She gave freely of her time and resources to her Church, family and friends. Sallie also loved sewing, needle point and gardening.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Surviving is her son, Micheal Rouw and his wife Susan of Milwaukie; her daughter, Patricia and husband Larry Miller of Portland and Karen Chalberg of Portland; 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Jim and brother Donald.
