Sheila was born in Astoria to Henry A. and Audrey J. Coles. The family moved to Portland when she was 5 years old. Growing up, Sheila spent many hours on the Columbia River, boating, swimming and helping with the family fishing business. It was a time in her life that was carefree and held promise of a vibrant future.
A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2011, at Sandy Funeral Home, 39551 Pleasant Street, Sandy.
She graduated from Centennial High School in 1970. After high school, Sheila married Darrell Scheffer; they later divorced. Sheila and Darrell had one child together, Tina.
Sheila was well known for her kindness and generosity. She was a wonderful daughter, mother, sister and friend to so many. Always the peace-keeper, Sheila strived to make the world a better place for her family and friends. Sheila was also a dedicated employee. She enjoyed working and truly cared for the people she worked with. She primarily worked in Accounts Payables, working for companies such as Fujitsu, Wafer Tech, and most recently, Brasher’s Cascade Auto Auction. Sheila had returned to school to earn her Associates Degree in Accounting, graduating from Mt. Hood Community College in 2004.
Sheila loved family events, camping trips and holidays. She created many wonderful memories and traditions that will be carried on by her grandchildren. She enjoyed going to the movies and out to lunch with her high school friends. Sheila especially enjoyed the cruises taken with those friends, going to both Mexico and Alaska.
Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, Henry A. and Audrey J. Coles. She is survived by her daughter, Tina Wright; grandchildren, Kayla and Kyle Wright; brother, Steven Coles; and sister, Sandra Pense.
