Sheryl “Sheri” Lynn Lesina passed away at her home on the morning of January 29, 2019 at the age of 63. Sheri was born in Salem on June 1, 1955. Sheri’s mother, Mary Ellen McDonald Lesina was born in Akron, Colorado on November 13, 1936. Her bio father was unknown. However both Sheri and her younger sister were raised by their step father Val K. Lesina. Sheri’s grandfather, Wesley Afton McDonald was the Washington County Sheriff in Colorado and sadly was killed in the line of duty in 1952. Years later, he was commended and his daughter Mary received a plaque of honor on his behalf. He is deeply remembered for his honorable and courageous service. His wife, Sheri’s grandmother, Maybelle Blanche “Pat” McDonald than moved with her daughter to Salem after the tragic death of her beloved husband. Maybelle Blanche “Pat” than worked herself up from being a Meter Maid to becoming the very first female Deputy Sheriff of Marion County. Sheri’s grandmother, born March 17th, 1912, died January 10, 1973. Gone too soon. Both of Sheri’s parents are deceased. Her stepdad, Val Kenneth Lesina, born July 7, 1936 passed in 1997at the age of 61. Sheri’s mother, Mary Ellen Lesina passed on January 18, 2018 at the age of 82. Sheri is survived by her younger sister, Jeri Elaine Lesina aka Sara Hodge Hottman and her beloved furbaby companion Fernando. Sheri was known mostly for her ability to socialize easily with anyone, her love of music, especially her idol, Billy Idol, whom she loved over a span of many, many moons. Her favorite all time song of Billy’s was “Rebel Yell.” Sheri also had a deep love for animals and enjoyed reading. Sheri’s wish was to be cremated so there will be no funeral. However, a very small gathering was held on Sheri’s behalf on February 3rd at her residence where those of us there shared our memories of Sheri and where everyone smiled as we talked of her lively character. RIP dear sister.
Respectively her little sister, Jeri Elaine Lesina aka Sara Hodge Hottman
