Long time Sandy resident, Shirley Ann Perkins, passed October 6, 2022. She was 84 years old.
Shirley was born August 15, 1938, to Ray Cooper and Irene Gallant in Blackwell, Oklahoma. They moved to Forest Grove, Oregon and she grew up there.
On July 25, 1958, she married Cledus Perkins in Silverton, Oregon. They moved to Sandy and raised their families there.
Shirley loved to draw, especially old barns and old mills. She loved to camp and traveled to many places with her husband after retirement. After he passed, Shirley and Laura would go on drives just to honor him and always loved just “finding the end of the road”.
Shirley loved to collect rocks and considered herself a rockhound. She really loved her animals and felt they were part of her family. She loved bracelets and hats! It was rare to see her without one.
Shirley was a quiet person with a big, generous heart. She was raised in a Christian home and loved Jesus and the Gospel. She will be greatly, greatly missed.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Laura and son-in-law Tom from Rhododendron, Oregon, and her sister’s Marilyn Juden from Vida and Sharon Grittman from Bremerton.
She is preceded in death by her husband Cledus Perkins.
Shirley's favorite poem was The Serenity Prayer.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
