Steve Hinkson, a retired tractor mechanic, died at his home on March 21, 2009. He was 69.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm, Friday, March 27, at Sandy Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Logan Pleasant View Cemetery.
Stephen Gordis Hinkson was born in Portland, Oregon to Lyndon and Louella (Lundstrom) Hinkson on July 25, 1939. He was raised in Colton and Fishers Mill, graduating from Estacada High School in 1957.
Steve enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves and continued his education, studying engineering at Oregon State College for two years.
On May 8, 1960, he married June A. Chipman in Colton. They made their permanent home at Logan where they raised their family.
He worked as a timber cruiser for Publisher Paper a time, before going to work at Fishers Mill as a tractor mechanic. Steve later owned and operated Steve’s Tractor Repair, until retiring.
Steve was a member of Cascade Riders. He was an avid reader and enjoyed working on his farm, raising cattle.
Surviving is his wife, June; daughters, Stephanie Wood, Happy Valley, Julie Knaub, Damascus and Kim Adams, Comfort, Texas; son, Jake Hinkson of Madras; sisters, Lynda Christner, Plano, Texas and Marge Elliott, Clackamas; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
