Sandy resident, Theodore “Duane” Hergert, died on November 13, 2013 following a long illness. He was 86.
Duane was born in Gresham, Oregon to Theodore and Agnes (Virell) Hergert on August 23, 1927. He was raised in Ames, Oregon and graduated from Sandy High School in 1945. Duane always remained a resident of the Mt. Hood area throughout his lifetime. He rejoins the love of his life, Peggy Hergert, whom he had missed the last 18 years.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, famous for his homemade jerky and as a wicked partner in Pinochle. Loved by all for his talent on the piano, he brought music and laughter to each of us. Duane was the best Dad, Uncle, Brother and Grandfather that we could’ve ever wished for.
Survivors include; his children, Toni Reding of Laguna Hills, CA, Scott Hergert of Redmond, WA and Tami and Tod Hergert both of Sandy; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters, nieces and nephews, a family he loved whole-heartedly.
