Timothy Paul Snyder was born to Paul (Joe) and June Marie Snyder on October 20, 1951, in Cleveland, Ohio. When he was five years old, his family moved to Alder Creek, Oregon. Tim was the third child of five children, Carol, Rick, Nancy, Tim, and Pamela Jo.
Tim attended Sandy Grade School and graduated from Sandy High School in 1969. While attending high school, Tim was a member of the Sandy High School swim team. Tim also served in the Oregon National Guard for six years and attended Mount Hood Community college for two years. In 1973, Tim married Pamela E. York, and together, they raised two sons, Tyler and Lucas. Tim was always there for his wife, Pam, and their sons, Tyler and Luke as a young husband and father. He welcomed any chance to spend time with them while also tending to their five-acre Troutdale, Oregon property that Tim and Pam purchased in the early years of their marriage.
Tim enjoyed spending time with his wife and sons camping, swimming, and boating, Tim was also an avid runner who, in 1980, ran the Portland Marathon in 2:46 minutes and qualified for the Boston Marathon. He also competed in many other marathons and triathlons over the years. In addition to being a runner, Tim also was a windsurfer. Together, Tim, his family, and friends traveled throughout the beautiful state of Oregon camping, swimming, and boating with a special love for visiting Cove Palisades State Park in Culver, Oregon, Honeyman State Park in Honeyman, Oregon, and Oxbow Park in Gresham, Oregon. Tim and his family especially loved taking road trips to the Pacific Ocean and traveling to Hawaii for vacations, windsurfing, running excursions, and other adventures. In his later years, Tim also competed in a Tough Mudder event.
As a young husband and father, Tim worked as a crane operator at Reynolds metals from 1974 to 1992. In 1994, Tim started working for TriMet as a Service Worker. Over his years working with TriMet, Tim became Assistant Supervisor in the OCS department until his retirement in 2017. Tim is survived by his beloved wife, Pam, his son, Tyler, and his wife, Erin, their two twin 11-year old sons, Griffin and Connor, who lovingly called, Tim “Papa,” and Tim’s other son, Luke, and Erandi and their adorable one-year-old son, Haydn Timothy. Also, surviving Tim is his one brother, three sisters, many beloved in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
While Tim was always a committed, loving husband, family man, and all-around athlete, he also loved music, movies, playing pool, and spending time riding his Harley along the highways during many beautiful Oregon sunsets. Tim was truly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held in early Summer, 2022.
