Sandy resident Treva Tompkins, died in a Portland hospital on April 1, 2009. She was 79.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 4, at Sandy Funeral Home. Private interment will be at Sandy Ridge Cemetery.
She was born Treva Marie Stagner in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia to Ross and Alice (Bell) Stagner on January 26, 1930. She was raised in Harpers Ferry where she graduated from high school in 1948. Treva continued her education in Baltimore where she received her certification as a registered nurse.
On November 26, 1967 she married Charles L. Tompkins in Carson City, Nevada. They lived in California and Nevada prior to moving to Oregon in 1972. In 1976, they made their permanent home in Sandy. Her husband preceded her in death in 2007.
Besides working as a homemaker and raising their family, Treva used her nursing skills at Portland Adventist Hospital, Kaiser, Mt. Hood Medical Center and several area nursing homes. She retired in 1995.
She enjoyed taking trips, walking, gambling and animals.
Surviving are her sons, Phillip Tompkins of Sandy, Howard Tompkins of Vancouver, Washington and Charles Tompkins of Molalla; daughters, Renee Berg of Welches, Pamela Tolman of Glendale, Arizona, Shirley Duprey of Lebanon, Luella Fox of Payson, Arizona and Linda Aune of Oregon City; 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
