I met Ulrike at Good Shepherd Community church. She was there during the summer service which was outside. She was playing with her grandchildren and also playing on the swings herself . She looked strong and healthy. She offered to help answer any of my farming questions once she learned we had cows and invites us to her farm . I went to call her today and the. read this. I am sad she is away but so happy she is in heaven . sending prayers and love to the family today !

Dear Ulrike, I am sorry to learn that you are gone from this physical earth. You will always be in my heart. We were "The Touchdown Twins" of Dr. S's inorganic chemistry class in Eugene. He laughed to see us at his office hours. We were eager students. I am so glad we had those college years together, and then kept in touch as our lives danced along to our respective marriages/children/travels... and don't forget making applesauce from your trees on the patio at your home. Watching you repair bike tires in the kitchen and setting out lunch for a crowd...what a marvelous loving friend and Mother. Good-bye for now, Love from Barbara

Thankful to have known you and cut blue tanzy, herbs, and lilac together. Thank you for sharing tools to grow my faith. God bless you and I respect and honor your wishes, Ulrike.

Michele and I had the pleasure of meeting Ulrike and Larry while our sons attended the United States Military Academy from 2004-2008. We enjoyed the journey our our families and stories of our heritage. May GOD open his arms to this wonderful lady. The Mnatzakanian Families.

When you love someone, you always want to see, hear and hug them one more time. As a friend from New York, it was exceedingly difficult to let go, say good-by and leave Ulrike Franks. But! I plan to see her again & forever. Amen
Nick Battipaglia
I had not seen Ulrike for quite a few years. Our 2 boys Ben and Tim were friends when they were young with Nathanial and his next older brother (I can't remember his name, sorry). Ulrike's mother Anita often translated letters into German for us for a relative in Germany. I would like to get in touch with Anita, if possible. Ulrike was a kind, gracious woman!

Dearest Anita and dearest Franks Family,
My heart goes out to you all on this difficult day. Ulrike was a wonderful friend and an amazing enrichment in my life. I so cherish the memories of mild mischief and deep-felt laughter with her. She was a very special human being with a full spiritual presence. I so miss her! Please feel big warm hugs coming your way from Germany. With much love, Christine

What a joy to be friends with Ulrike. There is no other woman like her. Will miss her greatly, and yet I’m rejoicing she is with her father, her papa. No more pain, no more suffering. She has personally touched me and changed me, like no other person. My walk with the Lord is strengthened because of her.
Prayers and Hugs my friend,

As Ulrike's memorial card said, Ulrike and Larry worked together to build a home in Oregon. It's been years since I visited and I've forgotten many of the specifics of how their home looked, but I remember very clearly how it felt. Ulrike's home just felt very warm. She made me feel welcome, like I was important and she was excited to see me. The food was good. She put effort into having me there. She and Larry wanted to talk to me and get to know me. It was peaceful.
I hope my wife and I can make a home that feels as warm and welcoming to others as Ulrike's was to me.

My wife Bonnie and I have known Ulrike and Larry since the late 80s. Although we only saw them annually as business aquaintances they shared stories confidences and eventually their life and trust to help take care of their family. It was sad when we lost Larry and now sadder still to loose Ulrike so young. I will always remember their faith in the Lord.

We are so sorry for the loss of your Mother. We will miss our good friend and neighbor. Many fond memories of visiting and catching up on how our kids were doing. Our last time to see Ulrike was in our pasture trying to catch a cow that got lose from another neighbor. She was always willing to help other people if there animals got out. Now she will find comfort in the arms of Larry in Heaven.

We will miss Ulrike, our good neighbor and friend. Always enjoyed exchanging stories of our kids growing up and the boys sledding down her driveway. Our last exchange was her help trying to catch another neighbors cow that had ended up on our property. We are sure Larry welcomed her in Heaven with open arms.

The world has become a darker place without Ulrike's light. She was the only person I've ever had as a mother figure and I mourn her as a son who lost his Mom.
The best memories I have of Ulrike are the amazing breakfast she made me for my 29th birthday: pancakes and waffles with home-made whipped cream. She laughed so hard when the whipped cream canister exploded. And then when she traveled to France with her whole family for my wedding with my wife Apolline.
Our last call was the Saturday before her light went out. The last words my wife and I heard from her were "I love you both". She will be a part of us forever and she will be greatly missed.

I first met Ulrike and Larry in Nime France in 2014.
Ulrike was immediately talking to my wife and young kids like she'd known them all her life, her smile an warmth shon threw. She was a very nice woman who had a natural talent at motherhood, she loved my kids I spent a few days in her and Larry's company, and we talked a lot, mostly about our family's.She was a luvly soul, a luvly person and a goid strong woman and mother. We kept in touch via email after that 2014 chance meeting and I enjoyed the mail, I don't mind aiting I looked forward to receiving an email. I was saddened to hear of her passing. Heaven is a better place with Ulrike in it for sure, and she is reunited with her man. We will never forget you Ulrike, thank you for making our lives brighter. Jesus loves you xx xx xx.

Dear Ulle.... l miss you very much and l was so glad that we met in our lifes... as children and later on... besides letters and emails whatsapps and phonecalls... l will remember you as a very loving and very caring , devoted woman especcially to your family and friends... all up's and down's you took and mastered with great dignity and bravery... You loved life so much and nature, animals, this earth... we had very much in common in these fields and our spirituality... l would have liked to visit you in your home, but never made it... lam glad and l always remember the things we shared... l would have wished l could have comforted you in any way... but l understand your wish to keep quiet about your illness.... l will pray and wish all your family great strength on the 12. and all the time and days and month to come ... you are and will be greatly missed by all who knew you, most by your familiy of course... but what have all in common is the great gift to have known you, to have shared life with you and l wish all who attend or cannot attend all best wishes and blessings... and to you Ulle, that you can rejoice with Larry and your light and love will shine for ever... May all your family and friends find comfort and consolation... in that you are at peace... greatly missed of course but at peace...may all your family and friends be blessed...

Ulrike was an amazing person.
She was always caring to me and my family and showered us with love.
She was willing to take us into her home when everyone was afraid of Covid 19 and scared to have strangers.
She was a true Believer and loved seeing people from different cultures come together to worship God
I love, cherish and adore her.

Mom, you took good care of us growing up and you were the life of the house. A true "internet mom," your candle never went out (Prov. 31:18). So much did you love your family. Sorry we were often far away when we grew older. You stayed strong and disciplined even when you were alone. We miss and will miss you. Your son, Jordan.

Ulrike and I became friends in a Women’s Bible Study small group at Good Shepherd in 2007/8ish…
We reconnected in recent years occasionally, and it always brought joy to my heart…
Pictured: In early 2020 I brought my kids up to the farm per Ulrike’s insistence to “help” feed the chickens and goats, and we got to see a baby calf who had just been born.
On another occasion in 2020 during the lockdowns, I spent some time with her digging in the dirt while my kids played in the sand pit, and we weeded and planted starts in her garden while sharing stories and talking about family, life, and God. It was a perfectly gorgeous day.
My daughter loved the dogwoods and lilacs blossoming in the yard and asked if we could take some home, so Ulrike cut some branches for her to take and she was thrilled.
She also shared some starts with me for my garden, and I still have some tall fennel stocks growing in my yard that survived from a struggling little start we weren’t sure would make it. Makes my heart smile.
I adore her, and I’m so grateful for my little handful of memories of sweet connection. Sending love to you all. 🙏🏼

My condolences to the family, Ulrike will be surely missed. I will miss Ulrike very much, her beautiful smile, her kindness, and calmness. I enjoyed our trips to Saturday Market, and visiting with her at her home. We had such a wonderful time together at the Christmas church potluck, singing and sharing stories. I am grateful that she invited me to come over and see her in her last days, it means a lot to me. I am also very fortunate to have crossed paths with Ulrike, I will keep a special place in my heart for her.

We truly loved our time with the Frank's family as our paths crossed with baseball, basketball, church and hospital work.
We enjoyed our fourth of July celebrations together. So much to be grateful for in raising our children on sports and Jesus Christ as foundation. Ulrike, you are missed.
