A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Sandy Funeral Home at 2:30PM, Saturday December 15, 2012 with a reception to follow.
She was born Velma Inez Rose in Knoxville, Tennessee to Myrtle (Tipton) and Cauley Rose on March 7, 1929. She was raised in Tennessee and received her education there. After graduating from high school she headed out to Oregon with her cousin. Inez worked at a nursing home in Portland for a while.
In 1948 she married Lemar Roloff in Portland. They settled in Oregon City and began their family. Inez and Lemar divorced in 1964. In 1972 she met Paul Hoover. They moved to the Eugene/Springfield area for a time and then to Sandy in 1973 where Inez worked part time at a nursery and also helped care for her granddaughters. Paul died in November of 1989.
Inez absolutely loved to go fishing. She spent many hours on the Sandy River fishing for steelhead and in the Columbia for salmon and sturgeon. She and her brother had a never ending fishing competition over the years. She also liked to garden, ride her ATV (in her younger years) and she enjoyed visiting various casinos. She was able to do some traveling and fishing with her friend Richard Nieman before her health declined.
Survivors include her son, Steven Roloff of Milwaukie; daughter, Janet Chambers of Portland; brother, Lennis Rose of Knoxville, TN; sister, Yvonne Parker of Lawton, OK; granddaughters, Becky Nerpel of Sandy and Allison Chambers of Portland, 2 great grandchildren and a third one on the way.
